Copperhead…here?
The other day while reading to the kids, I thought I heard a few gun shots, but I didn’t take any notice because it happens every so often living in the woods.
Yesterday our neighbor told us that around 8pm a few days ago, her son noticed a copperhead in our front yard. I am not sure how he spotted it, but am glad he did. She said he shot at it and missed the first time, but got it the second. It swung at him and he finished it off with an ax.
Imagine, all that going on in my front yard and me and the kids were cozy in their room, snug in their beds, reading our book, oblivious to it all. 🙂
Our neighbor was lucky he did not get bitten. I was reading that most cases of copperhead snake bites are caused when a person tries to kill them. I am sure he would not have bothered it if it hadn’t been so close to the house. I just hope if there are anymore, they stay in the woods. We don’t have any wood piles and such around, but our yard is a mess, lots of hiding places.
Have a great weekend,
Eeeks! That’s scary! So did your neighbor bring over the dead snake so you could skin it and eat snake stew? haha! Would of made a good science experiment for the kids 😉
I had to smile when you said that gun shots go unnoticed because you live in the woods. 😀
