The Kids Will Be Seeing Things A Little Differently
now that they have to wear glasses!!
We have been noticing with Donnie that he cannot see very well with things far away. When we are watching a movie and there is something to read, he cannot see it unless he gets closer. Don also noticed while playing catch. And, Donnie has noticed it himself.
Don
Don, has been wanting a new pair since he got his current one a year ago. For some reason, they just aren’t working for him and he procrastinated on taking them back. Really, he works so much that we never got to it and the next thing you know, a year has passed.
His eyes have changed some since last year, and his new pair will have anti-glare. Because he got frames and lenses last year, he only got lenses this time and is using an old pair of frames that he liked. He didn’t care for the ones he got last year and is excited about wearing his older pair once again.
Me
Me? Well, my specks are about 11 years old!! It is time for a new pair. LOL! The eye doctor kept stressing that point. Even though my eyes haven’t changed much in 11 years, she still recommended I get a new pair. I had planned to either way anyway.
I got mine with EV lenses and added the anti-glare. I am hoping it will help with my night time driving, car headlights are like star bursts and it is hard to judge their distance.
MaryEllen
This was MaryEllen’s first eye exam. She isn’t 20/20, and could go without, but the doctor recommended we get her a pair so that her brain can register images correctly. She doesn’t have to wear them to read, but when we go on our weekly trip to grandma’s, she can wear them and notice things are a little crisper. Sort of like the difference between Blue Ray and regular DVD’s.
The doctor explained it by saying that if she was the legal age to drive, she wouldn’t need to wear them to drive.
Donnie
This was also Donnie’s first eye exam. When the doctor looked at his chart, she said that he definitely need glasses, no if’s for him, unlike MaryEllen who has a choice.
Donnie couldn’t read the chart she had in the room. Sadly, he got his momma’s eyes. He has a hint of astigmatism.
The doctor explained it by saying that if he was the legal driving age, he would have to wear glasses to drive.
He is going to be amazed at the difference when he gets his glasses. I remember when I got mine at about 10 years of age and how clear and crisp everything was.
After, the kids and I picked out our frames and we ordered the glasses. We will pick them up next Friday. Hopefully the kids will let me share a few pictures. They are SO shy!!
Have a great week,
Now you are the Spec Family! :o) I bet the kiddo's well look so cute in their glasses. I need new ones too. I notice I see huge starburst at night now. It is harder to read things that aren't even so far away too. Maybe in a few months I can get me some, expecially for driving, it's on my License that I am suppose to wear them. Ugh! I don't like them, I break out with rash behind and around my ears!
