Wow, it is now 2011!

We really didn’t do anything special for new years. We went out to eat and came home and watched, ‘Christy.’

We have been enjoying this series for our weekly movie night. We listened to the audio book, so watching the series after was exciting. We all have noticed the changes from book to tv series, but have learned to just enjoy the series.

At first, it was irritating because we expected one thing to happen and then it didn’t or it happened a different way.

We have the movie too, which we will watch once the series is over.

At first, I didn’t know this was a tv series, I thought it was the movie. My sister corrected me and then let me know that it leaves you hanging because it did not go on for another season. 🙁   Oh well, hopefully it isn’t too bad since we’ve ‘read’ the book.

The kids went to bed around 10:30ish and Don and I stayed up to watch another tv series he just bought, ‘Jericho’. It is pretty good and we got hooked, so we end up watching a few episodes. Okay, we didn’t get to bed until 3am!! We heard the guns and firecrackers going off at midnight, paused the movie, said our happy new years to eachother, cuddled and then turned on Jericho again.

We slept until noon! I am still in my pj’s right now as I type this at 4pm. I don’t think I will get dressed today. I feel a sore throat coming on and am praying it doesn’t become a full blown sore throat.

The kids and I talked about goals for the new year. I think it is about time they set certain simple goals, even spiritual goals. When we start studies again this coming week, I think we will write them down and commit to them.

One of my goals this year, besides the usual of losing weight and eating better, is to learn to sew. I’ve been wanting to learn for years, but have put it off. Don even bought me a sewing machine, and sadly it is still in the box in my closet. So, I shall take it out this year and give it a whirl. I’ve collected sewing books throughout the year, so I am confident I can teach myself…with many errors of course.

Another goal is to read through the Bible. This is something I have never done, began, but never finished. I get Charles Stanley’s Intouch Magazine, and he has a daily devotional area which also includes what to read so by the end of the year, the whole Bible has been read. I plan on using that.
