I Hate Halloween!
I find it hard to comprehend, but Halloween is a touchy subject among some Christians. You would not think so because of the wickedness surrounding this holiday, but sadly some Christians love it as much as the world does.
Halloween is a wicked holiday that permeates with death, sorcery, necromancy, and other features of the occult world. You would think this would be enough for Christians to shun the holiday.
Many will argue that they are not celebrating the wickedness, they are just having fun with the dressing up and the trick-or-treating. But God says to ‘Abstain from all appearance of evil.’ (1 Thess. 5:22) Halloween does not only appear evil, it is evil.
The bible also tells us, ‘And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.’ – Romans 12:2
This verse is telling us not to conform to the world. We should not look like the world in our actions, attitudes, dress, etc. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. How do we do that? By being in God’s word daily, learning how he wants us to act, think, dress, etc. Once we begin to do that, the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. Only then can you ‘prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.’ Prove here does not mean that you are showing that something is right or wrong, but it means to be able to ascertain, to know what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. You do not have to guess, but you know because you are in the word of God daily and you begin to think as God thinks.
I believe many Christians who compromise on Halloween are not in their bibles because if they were, they would know to take part in any way is not acceptable to God.
Psalm 101:3 says, I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes, yet Halloween is full of wickedness. Granted some things we do not ourselves set before our eyes, but we are still unfortunate enough to have to see them. If you are willingly going out and looking at wicked lawn decorations and costumes, or if you watch scary movies, you are setting these things before you, and not only you, but your kids.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”—1 John 2:15
Not only are we not to love the world, but we are not to love the things of the world. This includes their wicked holiday, Halloween. We are to hate those things which God hates, and I guarantee he hates Halloween and all that it entails.
My prayer is that Christians will not partake in any way, shape, or form in this wicked holiday. And yes, I keep using the word ‘wicked’ because that is what it is, WICKED.
I hate Halloween and it is one of those things that irks me when I see Christians partaking in it.
The bible says, ‘For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.’ –Ephesians 5:8-11
There is that word ‘prove’ again. It is used the same here, knowing what is acceptable unto the Lord because you have read and studied his word and you have the mind of Christ.
Christians should not be looking forward to Halloween, but rather we should reprove it.
This post is so refreshing to read. It’s so good to know that they’re fellow Christians that still hold onto God’s Truth and still believe that it’s imperative to “come out from among them and be separate” 2nd Corinthians 6:17.
Thank you so much for your content. As a homeschooler, I often look for great wholesome education that lines up with the Word of God!!
Hi Dee! Thank you for leaving the encouraging comment. It is on my heart to write more for my website, but I just have not sat myself down to do it, so this was refreshing.
I pray you have a super homeschool year.
