My New Bookcases
Isn’t it funny how we can get excited about bookscases!
Yesterday, the kids put together a 3-shelf and a 5-shelf bookcase for me. They did it all on their own and without arguing. I was proud. 🙂
They only put on two shelves upside down, but who’ll notice right? Especially when they are loaded with books and other things. 🙂
Our home, like most homeschoolers, is over run with books. A lot of our shelves are bowed because of overstuffing. (a few even fell) I had books in baskets and piled on the floor.
Last week the mess was just getting to me. Our place is small and cluttered. So, I decided to get rid of a few pieces of furniture that were not doing much but looking pretty and replace them with bookcases. I also added a lot of books to paperbackswap. Almost all were on others wish lists…yay! And some unwanted curriculum that was sitting around, my sister kindly listed on a forum she is on and most of it went…for cheap.
Here is their finished work.
This one will be for media, CD’s, audio books, educational DVD’s, etc.
I plan on removing the baskets and buying a wire shelf so I can double stack the CD’s and audiobooks.
These are the 5-shelf. They are already full! I had so much fun filling them up. 🙂 I told the kids, ‘See, it doesn’t take much to make me happy, just a little organization.’
Blessings,
